Angels new hair styling
Posted on September 6th, 2010 No commentsAngel, our rosette-mix guinea pig had very long and nice hair. But the last time he was nerved by this hair and you couldn’t see where is the end and the head of this guinea pig. So we decided to cut the hair.
Okay, the new hairstyling is very trendy and lively but I miss his long hair.

Our own horse
Posted on August 15th, 2010 No commentsOn the Eurocheval we saw him for the first time and have fallen in love immediately. Orage, a French cart horse of the race Trait Auxious, 8 years old. A wonderful animal. And so we make a trip of 1100 km to visit Orage in Burgund, France. Many people would think we are crazy but really? A colleauge from me said: If you want something, than you do a lot of crazy things - and it works!
As soon as we arrived the stud there we were received immediately warmly by the president of the union. Pierre led us around the corner of the open and friendly stable and there he stood already. Orage.
First he was ridden of a girl (I think Aurelle) which looks after him every day. Then I might also make a test ride and I was inspired. A supercomfortable step, a very lively trot and the gallop which I myself did not try out for the first time being looked also great. He reacted easily and was very quietly, in short said: The horse!
Very fast was clear for me and Steffen: Orage has not disappointed us, he is the right horse for us!. So all business one was removed and then we sat with a glass of wine with Pierre, the translator and some employees together and spoke about everything and anything. Unfortunately, for Aurelle it was difficult that Orage was sold now and she was very sad about this. But we insured to send photos of Orage.
And now I have to organise a lot. The stable, saddle, snaffle, transport etc. and at the middle of September this wonderful horse will come to us.
We can hardly expect it.

News from Batida
Posted on August 6th, 2010 No commentsOur Batida have many trouble with Jacky at the moment. Because Jacky want to have our Amadeus alone, he chase Batida away and this in a harsh way. So Batida had some little injury the last days, but nothing too bad. Well, today we had Batida and Amadeus on our Couch and give them the possibility to cuddle with each other without Jacky.

Eurocheval 2010
Posted on July 26th, 2010 2 commentsThe last week one could discover on the Eurocheval in Offenburg, Germany, again at a lot of different horses and find out about everything all around the horse.
We visited the Eurocheval on Sunday. And because I visited this horse exhibition very often in the last years, I noticed some changes.
Earlier there were definitively more horses and not so many sales booth. But now you have a lot of blank boxes and more sales booth and snack booth. Nevertheless, the introduced horses were dressed up again with a lot of love to the detail and were given an understanding during the single events to the visitors. Unfortunately, more and more signs “Beware of biting horse!” you can find but not without a reason. Because the behaviour of a lot of visitors is vey bad. Not every pony likes to get grap on the head.
Beside Shetland’s pony, Fjord Horses, Icelandic Horse, Camargue horses and Haflinger the small horses were well represented. The great horses could crow with numerous warmblood horses, Frisians and Spanish horses. The famous stud Marbach was also not absent of course, although they showed only some white Arabian horses this year. Anyhow the number of cold-blodded horse increased, too. Thus some French cold-blodded horse were beside Ardennern, South German Horse, Black Forrest horses including. Well, in one of the french horses I have also fallen in love.
Noriker, Quarter Horse were present etc. Unfortunately, the Shire Horse which were a principal reason for Steffens visit were absent. Only at short notice they had cried off.
All in all, it was again a very successful fair, really well organised. The visitor can feel the experience of the organizer clearly. Pity only that the trend develops slowly more and more to a sales event.
Enclosed some impressions of the fair.

News from our guinea pigs
Posted on July 14th, 2010 No commentsI want to give you some news from our 9 guinea pigs. At the moment it’s very hot in Germany, but our guine pigs have a climated room with 24°C. So they have a big advantage compared to other guinea pigs.
Amadeus
Our coronet mix had a meeting with the vet for grooming a few weeks ago. After this we cut some of his very long hair and now he have a very “fashion” haircut
Batida
Our white guinea pig eat the hole day and enjoy it. Often he chase Jacky away to protect “his” Amadeus. Well, he love this guinea pig and is very jealous.
Jacky
Our Jacky change the floor of the cage very often and enjoy it to annoy Batida. But all in all he is very friendly, even to Angel.
Angel
Our brown-black guinea pig is very shy and hesitate very often to get some food. Furthermore he makes very funny sounds as soon as I came to feed them.
Spike
Our friendly and cute guinea pig Spike meditate every day. He want to cuddle all the day and is so nice. Very often you have to laugh because of his face with his black cheeck.
Struppi
The brother of Spike lies very often in his cuddly bet and relax. Or he beg with funny sounds for food.
Mozart
Hi is very self-confident and curious at all.
Snoopy
This new one is very shy and often run away from us. But as soon as he is sitting on our hand, he like it to cuddle with us. He have to visit the vet for grooming soon.
Schoko
He was ill the last weeks but now he is health again and very nice. He is curious and like to observe us.
And here you can see some new pictures of our guinea pigs. Enjoy it

firefly
Posted on July 3rd, 2010 No commentsYesterday we had barbeque after a hot day in Germany. It was late and we had a very nice conversation with each other. Then it was dark and we saw a firefly. I didn’t see such a beautifull and fascinating animal before. I heard about it and saw it on TV but in real, no. And immediatly we were silent to observe this wonderfull little animal.
The human beings produce many artificial light, but that’s all nothing compared with this green light from the firefly. It was a very impressive encounter.

Saving of a black bird
Posted on July 2nd, 2010 No commentsThis morning we sat for the breakfast comfortably in the garden, as Steffen discovered in the neighbouring garden a blackbird who had got involved in the net of the raspberry. We immediately had got up and after I had asked with the neighbours briefly around permission, we are in the garden. The poor bird has totally got caught in the net and has wrapped the net already in the plumage. The bird can’t free himselft alone. We cut off a piece and tried to free the black bird from the net. Unfortunately, the blackbird has escaped occasionally and sit now under the currant. Steffen observes the little one now a little, perhaps it gets to release the rest of the net independently, otherwise we will have to catch the bird probably again.

Our guinea pig Schoko
Posted on July 2nd, 2010 No commentsOur little cavy Schoko (the german short word for chocolate) was a little bit ill. He had a cold and we went to the veterinary. There we get some herb juice for the little one. The first days he don’t want to drink the medicine, but since two days he can’t get enough of that. And now he feels more better than the last days.
