Yesterday Steffen found an hedgehog in our compost pile. The big question is how he get in there.

Well, in the evening we free him after we build a new, little compost pile next to the pieplant. And after he sat there a while he looked around, eat some cat food we offered him and disappeard in the pieplant. A very cute and nice animal such a hedgehog :-)

Yesterday we had barbeque after a hot day in Germany. It was late and we had a very nice conversation with each other. Then it was dark and we saw a firefly. I didn’t see such a beautifull and fascinating animal before. I heard about it and saw it on TV but in real, no. And immediatly we were silent to observe this wonderfull little animal.

The human beings produce many artificial light, but that’s all nothing compared with this green light from the firefly. It was a very impressive encounter.

Today I was sitting in the living room as a loud boom sounded in the bathroom. And immediatly I know it was a bird who crashed against the window. So I run to look for the bird and Steffen was there, standing next to a dizzy blackbird. We sat the bird in a carton and left her alone to relax and regenerate. From time to time a looked after the blackbird and after a half hour the bird flows away. I was so happy that no bad happend because of the crash with our window. Well, now we buy some window pictures so this doesn’t happen again.

Our guinea pigs are really very good teachers to live particularly with regard to the kind. While outdoors on this Saturday already again all pensioners make her lawn mowers ready to be launched and also the remaining population tries to work a little bit, one can go well the guinea pigs and simply rest. It is also difficult for me very much, however, just in thus nice weather, nevertheless, we should on occasion simply make sometimes a break and scoop a little energy.

  • The movie Avatar and its message

Posted on May 8th, 2010 Heidi No comments

Yesterday Steffen and I have looked at home the film “Avatar” of James Cameron. This movie occupied me the whole night emotionally.

The most people went to the cinema to watch this movie because of the effects. And exactly that’s why we also dealt to us denied, this. Accordingly without big expectations I faced to the film.

The people from the earth search for another planet because there are no more raw material deposit on the earth. So they found Pandorra as replacement for the earth. Pandora  is pure nature and offers enough “raw material” to the people. The fact that on this planet peaceful beings (Na’vi) live in the complete harmony with the nature, makes no difference to the people of the military. To the stockholders also. They would want, finally, that on account of the fertile material of the planet the courses rise.

However, some people can slip with the help of the most modern technology in the world of these beings and get to know them and her culture understand. And they help these natives when their world is threatened by the people and is destroyed.

I would not like write mor about the story, but light up something else. Because the message of this film. Many will not have read the message properly, others will briefly have thought about it and some days later it was forgotten again.

Since the film and the events has reminded me of the massacre of the Indians. Since Indian, one can also look to the Aboriginies or other native  races, lived in the harmony with the nature peacefully and without destroying their world. Then there came the white man and destroyed this culture, only with it they came to the country of the Indians. The film should indicate in my opinion where to us also in the today’s time greed, egoism and capitalism leads. We have gone away already so far from the nature, from ourselves, that we do not perceive at all consciously, how much we destroy every single day our earth and other people. I know, actually, no beings in the animal kingdom which destroy their own living space. Mercilessly, without bad conscience.

And James Cameron has filmed this warning to the people on account of the momentary situation in the world very well. “Home” has tried it with unbelievable physical pictures. The film “Earthlings” has shown there already with more drastic means the magnitude of the western world concerning keeping of pets and animal homicide. And Avatar contain the same message. We can live not without our planet, without other people. While we destroy primitive races, woods and meadows, we destroy only ourselves. On short or long view. Money and egoism will not help us if the earth is destroyed.

After the last tree has been cut down,
after the last river has been poisoned,
after the last fish has been caught,
then will you find that money cannot be eaten.

  • Palmengarden - part 1

Posted on May 2nd, 2010 Heidi No comments

Yesterday, on the 1st of May, we went to Frankfurt to visit the nice palmgarden. Me and Steffen were glad on the many exotic plants and the rich colouring. Unfortunately, the mood was quite strained before we were there. Since in Frankfurt a bicycle running took place on the 1st of May and all streets were simply blocked without diversion signs. Thus we wandered 3/4 hours by Frankfurt (many thanks to the town for this great organisation!) and held, finally, before a police car. We had enough. Behind us stood suddenly 4 other cars which also rushed at the nice policeman in the car. Then he explained to me how we could find, nevertheless, still in the palm garden and 10 minutes later we reached our aim.

Nevertheless, the mood brightened fast again, because the palm garden is really worthwhile. Cactuses, tropical plants, palms, a liverwurst tree, rhododendron bushes and a wonderful lake. And many many geese and ducks who were very trusting.

In short, nevertheless, it still became a wonderful day and the trouble has obviously been worthwhile. Since nothing the material can emit so much joy and deep blessedness like these blaze of colour of the nature.
