The New Spirituality will never condemn traditional religion, but seek always to include it in the process by which divine truth continues to be revealed.

There are far too many treasures in your religious traditions to abandon them. The future of humanity with regard to religion is not about desertion, but dissection, not about rejection, but rejuvenation.

What humans will do in the years just immediately ahead is begin to dissect their religions, looking at them closely, exploring them piece by piece, examining them doctrine by doctrine, to see what makes sense and what doesn’t make sense, what is functional and what is dysfunctional, what works and what doesn’t work in tomorrow’s world.

Island August 2010 - Tag 5: Halbinsel Skagi

Heute machten wir uns auf Richtung Saudakrokur. Das Wetter hatte sich gebessert und an der Küste begrüßte uns strahlend blauer Himmel und Sonnenschein. Von Varmahlid ging es auf der Straße Nr. 75 hinauf an dem Torfmuseum Glaumbaer vorbei, wo wir den ersten kurzen Stop einlegten. Sehr zu empfehlen und schön gemacht ist diese Sammlung an Torfhütten, eine Erinnerung an die frühere Art und Weise der isländischen Behausungen. Weiter ging es dann in das schöne Städtchen Saudakrokur. Hier legten wir einen Stop in dem blauen Haus Olafshous ein, dass wirklich sehr zu empfehlen ist. Die Preise waren in Ordnung, supergemütliche Einrichtung und nettes Umfeld. Egal ob Suppe, Salatbuffett, Burger, Pizza oder Fisch, für jeden Geschmack und Geldbeutel findet man hier etwas vor.
Nach dieser Stärkung fuhren wir dann gut gelaunt am Skagafjördur weiter. Nachdem wir auf die Straße Nr. 745 wechselten, stand uns eine sehr lange Strecke auf einer teilweise doch sehr heftigen Schotterpiste bevor. Hier ist gutes Fahrgeschick gefragt! Teilweise habe ich nicht allzu viel von der Umgebung mitbekommen, da ich damit beschäftigt war, den üblen Schlaglöchern auszuweichen. Ein Geländewagen ist hier sicherlich von Vorteil, aber wir haben es auch mit unserem Hyundai geschafft. Doch es sei gewarnt, die Geschwindigkeit den Schlaglöchern anzupassen.
Allerdings sorgte der wunderschöne Blick auf das tiefblaue Meer und die kleine Felseninsel Drangey sowie zutrauliche und verschmuste Pferde und steile Klippen mit schwarzem Strand für ein atemberaubendes Bild. Wir knippsten unzählige Bilder und standen oft staunend und begeisternd am Straßenrand. Nur ab und zu tauchen auf dieser Strecke einige Farmen auf und ich gebe den Rat, diese Strecke bei sehr gutem Wetter zu machen, da die Sicht auf das Meer das Highlight war.
In Skagaströnd tankten wir dann wieder unser Auto auf, bevor wir noch vor Blönduos wieder auf die Straße Nr. 744 Richtung Saudakrokur einbogen.
Um 22 Uhr abends kamen wir dann wieder im Ferienhaus an und gönnten uns noch ein leckeres Essen. Und dann sahen wir etwas, dass das absolute Highlight des ganzen Islandurlaubs darstellte: Polarlichter.
Ich wollte gerade in den HOtpot und dachte zuerst, was denn das für seltsame grüne Lichter am Himmel sind. Und schließlich standen wir alle auf der Terrasse und blickten staunend, fasziniert und ehrfürchtig in den grün leuchtenden Himmel. Fast eine halbe Stunde wurden wir mit sehr deutlichen Polarlichtern beschenkt. Und auch nach einer Stunde konnte man immer wieder schwache Lichter sehen. Ich gebe zu, ich habe noch nie so etwas schönes gesehen und bei sternenklarer Nacht und Vollmond in einem warmen Hotpot in völliger Stille dieses Naturschauspiel zu bewundern ist fast nicht zu toppen. Das war einfach Wahnsinn.

Laster

Ich habe die Erfahrung gemacht, dass Leute ohne Laster auch sehr wenige Tugenden haben.

It Is Insanity

Then they will rejuvenate those traditions, gently releasing what is no longer beneficial, and adding new insights, new ideas, and new truths, born of the new awareness and the expanded consciousness that will be the basis of the New Spirituality.

NDW: So religion will not disappear from the face of the earth.

On the contrary, it will be more ubiquitous than ever. But gone will be the teachings of an angry, jealous, punishing Deity. Gone will be the moral justifications for vengeance and retribution. Gone will be the doctrines of exclusivity and “betterness” that have cast their shadow across the face of many religions in the past.

And alongside religion will stand a new form of human expression of the impulse toward the Divine, an expression that will not be rooted in codified texts and teachings, but in the moment-to-moment experience of each person sincerely seeking God.
