News from our guinea pigs

I want to give you some news from our 9 guinea pigs. At the moment it’s very hot in Germany, but our guine pigs have a climated room with 24°C. So they have a big advantage compared to other guinea pigs.

Amadeus

Our coronet mix had a meeting with the vet for grooming a few weeks ago. After this we cut some of his very long hair and now he have a very “fashion” haircut

Batida

Our white guinea pig eat the hole day and enjoy it. Often he chase Jacky away to protect “his” Amadeus. Well, he love this guinea pig and is very jealous.

Jacky

Our Jacky change the floor of the cage very often and enjoy it to annoy Batida. But all in all he is very friendly, even to Angel.

Angel

Our brown-black guinea pig is very shy and hesitate very often to get some food. Furthermore he makes very funny sounds as soon as I came to feed them.

Spike

Our friendly and cute guinea pig Spike meditate every day. He want to cuddle all the day and is so nice. Very often you have to laugh because of his face with his black cheeck.

Struppi

The brother of Spike lies very often in his cuddly bet and relax. Or he beg with funny sounds for food.

Mozart

Hi is very self-confident and curious at all.

Snoopy

This new one is very shy and often run away from us. But as soon as he is sitting on our hand, he like it to cuddle with us. He have to visit the vet for grooming soon.

Schoko

He was ill the last weeks but now he is health again and very nice. He is curious and like to observe us.

Take a break

Our guinea pigs are really very good teachers to live particularly with regard to the kind. While outdoors on this Saturday already again all pensioners make her lawn mowers ready to be launched and also the remaining population tries to work a little bit, one can go well the guinea pigs and simply rest. It is also difficult for me very much, however, just in thus nice weather, nevertheless, we should on occasion simply make sometimes a break and scoop a little energy.

Cavy at the exhibition in Frankfurt

Yesterday I told you something about the exhibition in Frankfurt. Well, I saw a very nice and friendly guine pig there and fell in love from the beginning on. But this wonderfull and nice guinea pig was a female, and I have only males and so I haven’t any chance to take her with me. But look at the picture, what a nice guinea pig

Our guinea pig Struppi needs often something to play. Otherwise he feel boring. So a few days ago he found a new toy: a little piece of wooden. This toy fly now very often during the air or he take it between his teeth and wipping around. Very funny to see.

New pictures from our guinea pigs

The boys are very alive once more and are also very drowsy at the same time. Jacky and Angel play their power-demonstration-games and since some days Angel sits with pleasure sometimes next to Amadeus in the basement. Amadeus seems to have a little fear of the guinea pig who is younger though than he, however, for it almost greater. Batida finds this, by the way, not at all witty that Jacky and now also Angel are interested in his beloved Amadeus. And thus it sometimes comes to small hunting-games, but, all in all, nothing wild or something that would not be normal in a buck group.

Amadeus and his green lips

Our cavies eat a lot of gras at the moment. Only at breakfast they want cucumber, carrot and hay. Amadeus is one of the cavies with manners. But the picture show you that Amadeus haven’t many manners, when he eat gras.

My first cavy

My first cavy I get with 10 years and his name was Bumy. He was a very confiding and lovely cavy. I found some pictures from him in an old photo album as I visited my parents last weekend. So I want to show you the cavy which laid the foundation of my love for this lovely and fascinating animals.

Jacky und Angel

Jacky and Angel can’t good with each other. Sometimes Jacky altercate with Angel a little bit. But on the other side they sitting next to the other and eating carrot without any problems. So I can’t take this behavier seriously. Because Amadeus and Batida were the same at the beginning and now they are best friends

Jackys discovery

From our 6 cavies three drink every day, the other three take liquid with the food only. Jacky, Batida and Amadeus didn’t drink from the water bottle the last years. But this have changed a few days ago.

Jacky played in the cage and saw the water bottle and played with it. And then he drank and he was very happy about his new discovery. Since this day he drink every day and a lot

News from our cavies

A few weeks ago our cavies were the first day in our cage in the garden. Since this day they enjoy the garden as soon as it is warm and nice for them. Jacky and Spike love the trip in the garden especially. For us it is a big joy to observe them when they play togehter, eat a lot or sleeping.

cavy exhibition in Germany

This weekend we were on a little cavy exhibition in Germany, near Karlsruhe. There were not so many people, but over 100 cavies. We had a little stand with our cavy calendar there.

A few people who love cavies are there, too and we had nice conversation with them. Some of them help cavies which need help because their owner don’t want them again. They talked about some very bad stories and how people handle with cavies.

But, the positive thing on this conversation was that there are people who give cavies a new and good home and help them as many as they can.

Our cavies in the garden

Today was the first day that our cavies allowed to be in the garden. Because we lived last year in a flat with a balcony they don’t have the possibility to go outside. But now it was “premiere” for them and they enjoyed it very well

Spike was the most curious cavy of them and go all around and eat a lot of gras. Jacky and Angel were curious, too. Struppi was very shy, but I think that he will be happy about the new outdoor cage, too.

New story from our white Batida

When he came to us at the beginning he was a little devil and a real poison syringe. First he has hunted the brothers, then he has torn himself severely with Amadeus and also has shown the other two over and over again that he is here the boss. This went so far that everybody has ran away immediately, as soon as he has entered the upper level.

Except Amadeus, that meddlesome behaviour could not be impressed by Batidas and probably also an one either very thick friendship thereby originated between the both or passion -  In any case gives  Batida hardly way from Amadeus of his side.

Therefore, he has enjoyed also obviously to lie with Amadeus on the narrowest space in a soft igloo and to cuddle. The little one was quite dear-great from whole cuddling.

Yesterday then we have been surprised, why the soft melon is so full and seen that Batida with Spike sat close together in it, obviously contently. Again this happy expression in his eyes and to our surprise has Spike not as usual indignantly cheeped, but sat quite normally beside the white Batida.

New story from our cavy Batida

A few days ago our cavy Batida was on the couch next zu us. He liked it to hop on us and was cuddled from both of us.

Recovery of our cavies

Our cavies were ill a few weeks ago and we were by the pet doc to receive there medicine. Because of their good recovery the last days they are healthy now again and feel very well. And they are very hungry all the day Enjoy our nice cavies.

Struppi has a new toy

Our cavies are ill at the moment, they have acarine. But their recovery is very good and I think that they will be fit in a week.  During their illness we coddle them a lot and do anything that they feel better.
Today Struppi and the others became a new toy, a “cuddle-melon”. They like this cuddle things a lot. So Struppi was very happy about this new toy and sit all the day now in this melon.

Amadeus

Our amusing Amadeus is really a pretty and happy guinea pig. He is very communicative, too. Often he rans trough the cage and crow.

The black snout and his slope lip lends him a nice and at the same time amusing appearance.

Our sweetly brothers

Spike and Struppi are brothers and sympathize very good with each other.  Especially in situations when they feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Then they are sitting togehter in one cottage and that’s a very nice look
